Laura Bains has been teaching in a variety of settings for 20 years. She’s a former homeschooler, then moved onto teacher’s college, to become a classroom teacher, then a math olympiad facilitator and motivational speaker, to math and literacy tutor, and now author and speaker. Her first project is aMUSEinPHONICS, which fast tracks hesitant and struggling readers through the foundations of literacy. This latest project, Masterpiece, was created out of a need to offer these older students a progressive resource towards the next steps in their literacy journey that functions as an accessible yet incredibly empowering resource for them. This “gateway” novel creates the fertile ground necessary for a shift from fixed mindset to a growth mindset.
