Jean-Pierre Allard has hit the ground running!

Having attended the First Annual Ottawa Book Expo on May 23rd, following it up with a duo-combo book signing at the new Re-Read Used Books Riverside South location, with his wife - Cathy Allard's Becoming Comfortably Numb - there is no stopping this tour-de-force!

The Sport of Never Growing Up: Innocence, Tragedy & Survival is a memoir providing a vivid portrait of growing up in a predominantly working-class French-Canadian city, extensive uncanny coincidences connecting people and events throughout his life. The memoir blends personal tragedy with cultural and political history, using sports and music as frameworks for understanding survival, resilience, and finding meaning through life's hardships.

From the loss of his father at the tender age of 11 to the suicide of his brother when Jean-Pierre was 23, followed by two devastating strokes suffered by his wife, the first one 3-months post-partum, music becomes his constant companion through these significant challenges, with references spanning Elvis, Dylan, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Steely Dan, and countless others.

The Sport of Never Growing Up chronicles Jean-Pierre's coming-of-age in the '50-60's in Eastview (Vanier), Ontario, intertwined with his lifelong non-conformist nature, his diverse public service career and further accomplishments as a societal and historical writer

Author, Jean-Pierre Allard speaks live with Ottawa in the Know's host Julie Findlay here.

The perfect Father's Day gift as it is not only about baseball but also about the circle game of life and its many intricacies, nuances, and relationships.
