Joanne Burelle is a proud Ottawa native who still calls Canada’s capital city home. She and her partner Tim can often be found walking the nearby nature trails, where some of the finest conversations happen under a canopy of trees. When spring and summer arrive, she happily makes the rounds at Ottawa’s farmers’ markets, meeting local growers, sampling fresh produce, and discovering that the best wellness plan might just begin with a basket of strawberries and a smile from the vendor who grew them.
Her journey from climbing the corporate ladder to facing ill health didn’t happen to her—it happened for her. Burnout became the turning point that invited her to pause, reflect, and reexamine the high-achieving mindset that had driven her to exhaustion. Writing became her way to slow down, share lessons about compassion, health, happiness, and authenticity, and encourage others to trust their own path. Nearly five years later, holding this book is a humbling reminder of growth and resilience.
Over the years, Joanne’s path has taken many forms. She began speaking in 2010 as a facilitator of Mountain Movers workshops, inspiring people from all walks of life to rediscover their lives can be joyful. From 2012 to 2015, she was an active member of Toastmasters, serving as President in her final year. In 2022, she spoke as a panellist at the #Ignite2022 Women’s Conference in Ottawa (See Julie Caldwell – Author’s Suggested Local Resources). As a Certified Coach Practitioner through the Certified Coaches Federation, she has helped clients reconnect with their true desires and follow their bliss with courage.
Her healing journey deepened through energy-based practices. As a Healing Pathway Canada practitioner, she learned to be present, to listen, and to provide healing sequences that encourage peace, strength, and renewal. In 2024, she became a Certified Reiki Master/Teacher, opening a new chapter of growth while sharing Reiki with others and teaching small groups. She is also a proud member of the Canadian Reiki Association.
Joanne’s story will be featured in Fearless: A Decade of One Woman, a 10-Year Legacy book supporting girls’ education programs in Africa. She continues to blend her roles as author, speaker, coach, and energy healing practitioner with her philosophy that we are the creators of our lives—and nothing changes until we do.
Her message is simple yet profound: dreams don’t disappear; they wait for us to pick them back up. If you have a dream, hold it close.
