Broken Keys Publishing & Press is proud to add James MacIntyre to our expansive, every growing, and incredible roster of literary talents that is Broken Keys Publishing!

James MacIntyre embarked on his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts in History from Nipissing University, located in the picturesque city of North Bay, Ontario, in the year 1986. This foundational degree not only equipped him with a profound understanding of historical events and their implications but also ignited a passion for storytelling and the dissemination of knowledge. Following his undergraduate studies, James sought to expand his skill set by enrolling in a Journalism course at North Bay Canadore College. This decision was pivotal, as it provided him with the essential tools and techniques required for effective communication and reporting.

His time at Canadore was marked by hands-on experiences that honed his ability to craft compelling narratives and engage with diverse audiences. In 1988, he furthered his education by completing a qualifying year in English at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. This year was instrumental in deepening his appreciation for literature and language, allowing him to explore various forms of writing and critical analysis. The skills he acquired during this period would later enrich his teaching methodology, enabling him to inspire his students with a love for reading and writing.

The following year, in 1989, James returned to Nipissing University to undertake an Education course. This program was designed to prepare aspiring educators with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective teaching. Armed with this comprehensive training, he embarked on a fulfilling career in education, dedicating over three decades to teaching in primarily grades 3 to 6.

Throughout his extensive teaching career, James was known for his innovative approaches and commitment to fostering a nurturing learning environment. He made a significant impact on the lives of countless young learners, instilling in them a sense of curiosity and a desire to explore the world around them. After a long and rewarding career, James has now retired, transitioning from the classroom to enjoy a well-deserved respite.

He currently resides in the charming community of Iroquois, where he shares his home with his loving wife and their cherished pug, Pookie. Together, they enjoy a peaceful life, filled with the joys of companionship and the simple pleasures of everyday living. James often reflects on his teaching years with fondness, grateful for the experiences and connections he made along the way. His journey through education has not only shaped his own life but has also left an indelible mark on the many students he has guided throughout his career.

We are proud to bring you, Bo, the Far-Too Polite Pirate, the next step in James MacIntyre's career and first book in The Friendly Pirate Series.
