I have been aware of this in an unofficial – and frustratingly unconfirmed – capacity since mid/late June 2026. However, it is now confirmed: Ingenium Books Publishing Inc. has abruptly ceased operations and laid off its entire team following what appears to be bankruptcy.
According to an official notice from the company, they have ceased operations as of June 19th, 2026, with no further correspondence or discussion about the closure, operations, projects, or accounts.
Their website is down since at least June 19th, their phone number has been disconnected, and their Facebook and Instagram accounts have closed.
It can't be better explained than it is on The Self-Publishing Agency YouTube channel post here:
If you were an author of Ingenium Books Publishing Inc., you should have already received an email and/or letter as well a links to download your PDF's - cover and text of your book(s) – with a 7-day window, by now. If you haven't received this notification, or have not downloaded your files yet, you might, unfortunately, be out of luck.
For authors affected by the closure, here is what will typically happens next. (N.B. we are not lawyers nor is this to be taken as legal advice).
Double check the reversion of rights clause in your contract/agreement. If the company goes bankrupt, your publishing rights should revert to you, allowing you to publish the book again elsewhere. Although you should have regained the rights to distribute and sell your own books, but this documentation of acknowledgement will be very beneficial and helpful to have for challenges and tasks like keeping your Amazon reviews and having them transferred over to your new publisher.
You will have to remove the publisher's name and copyright page from current print files and replace them, along with your book's ISBN (as the number belongs to Ingenium Books Publishing) as well as removing their logo from your cover, (front, back, and spine), and your PDF's will likely need modification or redesigning.
Any unpaid royalties and recent sales for the past quarter will likely be lost in the bankruptcy process. You may need to file a claim as a creditor if you have hopes of receiving any money owed. However, it is unlikely you will see these royalties.
To salvage your book, you usually have to take a few key steps:
Request your final text and cover design files, if you don't already have them. However, if you do not already have them, this could prove to be difficult as there seems to currently be no avenues to contact them through. You will likely have to pursue legal avenues.
Reformat your book interiors and covers without the old publisher's branding or credit/copyright page(s).
The most important issue is whether or not you have your final interior and cover files for your book(s). If not, there is little we at Broken Keys Publishing can do to help.
If you are an author affected by this closure, let us know. We have successfully transitioned some Ingenium authors over seamlessly, and are in a position of accepting more.
